This years Motorcycle Live was a huge success with visitor numbers at the show significantly up.
Despite the whole Motorcycle Live show just being held in 4 halls at the NEC (unlike previous and years gone by where the motorcycle and scooter show was held in 6 to 7 halls) , it was probably one of the best motorcycle Live events for quite a few years and as is always the case the main manufacturers were all their with the best bikes, including Suzuki, Kawaziki, Yamaha, Honda, Triumph and Harley Davidson.

Rampd Up was amazing with bikers jumping as high as 40 to 50 foot

We were there and distributed huge numbers of the Motorcycle Reference Directory. We also used this year to take advantage of social media and took over 600 photos, some of which have already been posted onto our NEW facebook page. Our motorcycle Facebook Page We would be very happy if you could like this page as we are so new and need a few fans !! Finally if you are a tweeter, well as at 29th November we have 678 followers and this fan base is quickly growing. our motorcycle twitter page

We leave you with a one of our favourite photos from the Motorcyle Live show 2011, Tommy Hills, Yamaha

Malaysian MotoGP Motorbike race 23rd October 2011 ends with fatality..

The Malaysia MotoGP race was cancelled, after the 2nd lap due to a severe motorbike crash involving Marco Simoncilli, American Colin Edwards and Italian Valentino Rossi. Due to unforseen circumstances his crash helmet came off. Back in the MotoGP Medical Centre the medics were unable to save his life and he died. Whilst no one can argue that motorcycle racing is a dangerous sport, it has been a long time since such a fatal crash, infactback in the Japan 2003 MotoGP bike races. Ivestigations by the Motorcycling Federations and MotoGP have to some extent proved that little could be done to prevent an accident of this nature in the future. Our deepest sympathies go out to the friends, family and fans of Marco Simoncilli who was just 24 years old.

British Superbikes shootout final race… What a race..

Yesterdays Britsish Superbikes finale was probaly one of the best in the history of BSB. During the Final race everything was in it between John Hopkins, alias the Hopper (USA) and Tommy Hill (UK). During the final few laps both Tommy and Hopper overtook one another no less than 5 times, infact I lost count, the whole atmosphere at Brands was totally electric. Whilst Shane Bryne won both of the two races at the British Superbikes Finale (BSB), unfortunatley, he could not gain enough points to be the BSB champion of 2011.
Everything was in it between Hopper and Tommy and they crossed the finishing line with just 0.006 seconds in it. It was so close that it was quite a few minutes later before Tommy Hill finally realised he had become the BSB champion of 2011.
Thanks to both Tommy Hill and John Hopper and for making the 2011 finale and the final race such a memorable BSB. Of course Well done Shakey.

Which is better selling your motorcycle spare parts and accessories on-line or from your premises / motorcycle shop? This can only be answered, by considering which motorbike parts people will buy locally and will probably want to actually see and feel the parts physically and those that are the opposite of this. By way of an example most people will probably want to physically browse and try on motorcycle helmets and other motorcyle clothing and wear. However replacement spare parts for the motorbike are probably, quite different and may be searched and purchased on-line. For all your motorbike spare partsmotorbike spare parts you should have an on-line presence as well as a shop to sell your bike parts. Setting up an ecommerce shop is not costly and there are plenty of web design companies that can assist you this. As well as your own web site with your own domain name you should consider selling your mororbikes, scooters, parts or accessories via other on-line shops such as the www.motorcyclewebsite.com, ebay or Google shopping. Once you have established your best selling on-line bike products then these items at least should be sold via ebay, etc. On ebay you can set up a buy it now shop so although ebay was traditionally an on-line auction there are now various motorcycle dealers that have set up buy it now shops. In summary make sure you sell all your bike parts and motorcycles via your shop and on-line, keeping your stocks to a minimum.

Whilst many of us store our motorcycles during the winter months there are many hard core bikers that continue to use their bikes during the winter, especially the off road bikers. I believe it is worth while mentioning the heated hand grips these are motorbike parts that can act as a life saver in the winter months, as a heating element in the hand grip keep your hands warmer. You may not have to wear very thick well insulated gloves. Rather thinner motrocycle gloves making it much easier to handle your motorbike. The heating element is simalar to that in a kettle and can be easily fitted. In the winter months for many dirt bike riders these heated handlebar grips can quite simply be regarded as essential must have motorcycle parts. The cost of motorcycle heated grips can vary from £30 to £90 so make sure you compare prices.

As the motorbike season approaches you need to check whether any motorbike repairs need to be made prior to that first outing on your motorcycle. Or have you even forgotton that your bike needs to be replaced and you need to consider the purchase of a new motorbike from some motorbike dealers. Well either way lets hope that this is the last of the snow and we can get all those necessary accessories for our motorbikes ready in time.

It is also worth bearing in mind that during the winter months some parts of your motorcycle may have perished. You should certianly check all the brake cables. Hopefully you have kept your bike a a dry safe place and the winter months are short enough to ensure that the bike is fine working order. May be time for an oil change!!

Finally whilst your motorcycle has been stored in the garage dust may have accumulated so now is the time to consider cleaning your bike and polishing it.

Here’s to a good biking season

Owning any motorcycle calls for care, attention and the occasional trip to your nearest dealer for motorbike parts or motorbike repairs. However, this is never more true than with a classic bike. Owning a classic motorcycle is not just about enjoying the open road on a beautiful piece of engineering. It is an investment of time, money and effort, but one that has massive rewards for those willing to undertake such an endeavour.

Like with anything getting on in years, they are prone to grumbling, tiring and the occasional mistimed leaks, and therefore, just like all things elderly, they require a great deal of looking after. If you want to be sure your ageing beauty stays in shape, you have to make sure that you pander to its needs.

Cleaning the bike after use will ensure that rust stays away for as long as possible, and giving it a cool, dry place to sleep at night will also help. Try wherever possible to keep it out of direct sunlight to avoid fading. Also, ask your motorbike dealer about specially designed motorcycle covers.

When it comes to motorbike repairs, always track down original parts or you risk losing both value and the great look and character of your motorcycle. Motorbike parts for your classic might not be easy to come by, but it’s worth the search. Ensure you change the oil regularly and keep it lubed up as much as possible as it may well get thirstier in its old age.

Ultimately, remember not to ask too much of it and treat it with the respect its senior status deserves, and you’ll be sure to keep that classic bike looking classic for a long time to come.

Motorbike sales have been growing considerably over the last few years as the perception of them has gradually shifted from specialist eccentricities to mainstream modes of transport, highlighting what motorbike dealers and enthusiasts have known for years: that they are one of the easiest and most fun ways to get around.

The reasons for this are numerous. The moped’s return to fashion as kitsch city transport is thanks to both a changing zeitgeist and a changing view on travel in general. The introduction of congestion charges, the rise in traffic as well as the rising cost of parking and petrol have meant that motorbikes in general are simply an easier, less stressful and cheaper way to get around. With towns and cities busier than ever, finding a parking space for a People Carrier can be a nightmare, but with a bike it’s easy to slot into even the tightest of spaces.

Motorbike sales have also been aided by the rise in rentals abroad. Britain seems to be one of the last places to catch on to using motorbikes for effortless every day travel, and the ease in renting abroad has led many to find out the benefits for themselves firsthand.

With safety awareness being raised ubiquitously, the knowledge of how to ride safely as well as car drivers’ awareness of motorcyclists has grown meaning people feel safer to take to the road by bike.

With motorbike dealers around the country busier than ever, there has never been a better time to dust off the leathers and get out on the road on two wheels.

Hitting the open road is a phrase that definitely shouldn’t be taken literally. Having a motorbike is one of the most exhilarating ways to travel, but it is one that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Performing regular safety checks and upkeep to your bike is imperative if you want to stay safe on the road.

It goes without saying that you should wear the correct clothing every single time you are out on the road, but it is also worth considering the following each time you head out.
